Donating to Cathedral Archer Project
We announced the ‘Walk and Talk – 50 for 50’ initiative in February across all our brands. Those who took part pledged to walk the equivalent of 5,000 steps per day throughout February. At the end of the month, each person having walked 5,000 steps per workday had walked 50 miles.
Our Board Directors agreed to reward every successful business unit with £50 to purchase goods for a food bank of their choice.
Amy Ewens, Paul Brammer and Ross Cumming dropped 140 non-perishable items to the Cathedral Archer Project in Sheffield.
CAP helps homeless people achieve a better life by supporting them to; develop their independence, improve their ability to tackle setbacks, improve their ability to identify and change negative behaviour and improve wellbeing. The COVID-19 pandemic has hit the project hard, as well as having to change the way in which they offer their services to incorporate social distancing measures, the project also suffered a major setback when the premises they operate from within the Cathedral suffered an arson attack, resulting in project losing half of their operating space. Since the first lockdown, CAP has supported over 850 individuals rough sleeping in the City with no access to benefits and have served over 8,400 breakfast, lunches and sandwich bags.
The philosophy of the Cathedral Archer Project is ‘from sleeping bag to employment’. Amy added:
“We were naturally drawn to the project when deciding where we wished to donate our money raised from the 50 for 50 challenge. We were extremely humbled when we visited the project, the work that CAP does for the homeless and vulnerable people of Sheffield really struck a chord with us. We want charities such as these to be heard and more importantly supported and we look forward to extending our partnership further.”
The 50 for 50 initiative was a huge success across the business. In total throughout February, we walked 2,764 miles across our brands. That’s the equivalent of walking from Lands End to John O’Groats, back to Lands End and then back to John O’Groats.
We are extremely proud of how successful this initiative was and pleased to have supported a fantastic cause!
