Celebrating Karl Burke’s 1 Year Work Anniversary with Nicholas Associates Group
Today, we celebrate the first work anniversary of Karl Burke, Payroll officer in our Finance team. We sat down with Karl this week to discuss his journey within Nicholas Associates Group so far and explore his ambitions moving forward.
Reflecting on your first year with Nicholas Associates Group, what are some of the most memorable moments or achievements?
“It’s been such a fun and exciting year! Joining a team that’s full of energy has been amazing – I’ve loved being part of the various charity initatives as well the social events with my team, the Christmas meal especially was brilliant. On the work side, I’m proud of helping to get the weekly payroll process running smoothly. Making sure deadlines are met and everything flows better has felt like a real win for me and the team.”
How would you describe the support you’ve received from leadership and colleagues in your first year?
“The support has been brilliant. From day one, everyone’s been so warm and welcoming, especially the finance team. It’s been great to work with such a friendly and supportive bunch of people – it really helped me settle in quickly and feel part of the team.”
What’s one piece of advice you received that has helped you succeed in your role?
“The best advice I’ve had is to “go in with an open mind and new ideas.” It’s helped me approach things differently, stay positive, and bring fresh ideas to the table. It’s made a big difference in how I’ve tackled challenges and improved things in my role.”
How do you feel you’ve grown both personally and professionally during your time here?
“I’ve built on what I already knew about the back-of-house system and picked up loads of new skills from the team. Putting those skills into action to make the weekly and four-weekly payroll processes smoother has been really rewarding. On a personal level, I’ve become more confident, and professionally, I feel like I’m making a real impact.”
Looking ahead, what are your goals for next year, and how do you plan to achieve them?
“I’ve just started my CIPP course, which the company has kindly supported me with, and my big goal is to pass it! I’m excited to use what I learn to bring in new procedures and improve the payroll process even more. It’s all about making things work better for the team and keeping everything running like clockwork.”
We want to thank Karl for sharing his journey and achievements with us so far and congratulate him once again on a successful first year with Nicholas Associates Group! Karl is a valued member of the team and we appreciate all his contributions and dedication to our Group. Here’s to many more years with us!
