‘March on in March’ Challenge Raises over £2600 for Local Food Banks
Throughout February, we challenged our teams across the country to band together and get walking, with each individual in the team committing to walking 50 miles alongside their colleagues. This initiative, known as ’50 for £50’, was well received across our group with our teams being excited to step up and make a difference. As a result, a total donation of £800 was made to food banks across the UK. Building on the success of this initiative, we launched our ‘March on in March’ challenge.
This challenge was a similar, simple concept as the previous one but was still set out to make a huge impact. For every team that completed the collective 50-mile walk, we pledged to donate £50 to purchase groceries for local food banks in their respective areas. For every 10 miles completed accumulatively as a team past the 50-mile target, an extra £10 was added to their fundraising pot.
We are pleased to announce that 20 teams completed the ‘March on in March’ Challenge, resulting in a total donation of over £2600 to food banks across the UK. Collectively, our teams walked over 4000 miles. This is the equivalent of walking from the UK to France FIVE times over! Special recognition goes to Karl Burke, Payroll Officer in our Finance team, who topped the charts for most miles recorded across the month with a whopping 210 miles!
Through this challenge, we were able to support varying food banks and charities across the country. This includes:
St Joseph’s Family Centre (Warrington), Market Rasen Baby Bank, Salvation Army (Sheerness), Coventry Foodbank (The Trussel Trust), Scunthorpe Foodbank (The Trussel Trust), The Rainbow Centre (Scarborough), Hopeworx Foodbank (Rayleigh), Rotherham Foodbank (The Trussel Trust), Maltby Foodbank (The Trussel Trust), Grace Foodbank (Sheffield), Long Eaton & Sawley Foodbank (The Trussel Trust), Cottingham Foodbank (Hull), Sheffield S6 Foodbank (The Trussel Trust) and Sunnyside Supplies (Rotherham).
At Nicholas Associates Group, we consider community support as one of our core values and always strive to find innovative ways to give back to those in need. Initiatives like this one provide an excellent opportunity for our teams to come together, build meaningful connections, and support our local communities. We are fortunate to have the ability to make a positive impact in our local communities and enable people to be their best.
